Rookie Camp Continues

The Saturday Rookie Camp sponsored by SaddleBrooke Softball has proven to be a big hit with residents who wanted to learn how to play softball or just wanted to see if they still have the skills from their youth. Based on the success of the Saturday Camp that started in September, the SaddleBrooke Softball Board will continue offering the Camp on Saturdays in 2012.

Starting Saturday, January 14, SaddleBrooke Softball will have a Saturday Rookie Camp. The Camp will start at 11:30 AM and last for 60 minutes. Residents will be trained by several experienced coaches who have worked with many newcomers and those who have not played in many years. The coaches are members of SaddleBrooke Softball and play on a regular basis. The coaches are very patient and low keyed. They plan to work with the rookies until the basics are learned. The coaches are dedicated to developing each rookie to their full potential.

The camp is completely free. Rookies will have to sign a release of liability form that is signed by everyone who plays at the softball field. Bats, balls and gloves are available. Residents should have a good pair of shoes to reduce the risk of falling and are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Water fountains are available in the dugouts.

Rookies who discover they enjoy playing softball will have the opportunity to join over 150 men and women who play softball year round at SaddleBrooke. The 2012 Winter Season starts Monday, January 9. Residents are welcome to watch their neighbors and friends play on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Games start at 10:00 AM.
