Susan Kravitz Concert

Written by Joe Lestingi and John Reingruber

Susan KravitzThe SaddleBrooke Softball Board of Directors is pleased to announce Susan Kravitz will perform in a benefit concert, As American as Baseball and Apple Pie, Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the MountainView Palo Verde Room from 7:00-9:30 PM. The concert, which will support SaddleBrooke Softball, was conceived by Susan and her husband, Allan, a dedicated SaddleBrooke Softball player who also serves as a photographer on the Communications Committee.

Susan is a life-long musician, singer/songwriter, who has used her talents to support many worthy causes. She has written and performed one-woman shows to raise money for Hurricane Katrina survivors and other charitable events. She was featured on the cover of the July 2007 edition of Making Music magazine as the subject of its lead article about her musical journey in Austin, Texas. She performed at Stubb’s famous Gospel brunch, at the historic Driskill Hotel, and in the Austin City Limits studio. For more information on Susan’s exceptional talents click here.

Since moving to SaddleBrooke, she has performed at the biannual Sisters In SaddleBrooke luncheon and at several of her Unit 46 social functions. She is currently the Cultural Specialist teacher at the Tucson Jewish Community Center preschool where she uses music and puppetry to teach her students.

The February 19 concert will feature three musical sets that celebrate our American history and culture through music. The first set, American Folksong, will provide a fascinating look at how folk music evolved through the impact of history. The second set, American Lounge Lizard, will feature classic favorites from Broadway and popular music. The third set, American Sampler, will offer a smorgasbord of different musical genres, such as country western, folk rock, and gospel. In between sets Leroy Johnson, SaddleBrooke Softball’s favorite DJ, will spin tunes for listening and dancing. In keeping with the concert’s theme, apple pie and ice cream will be available for all. So save the date as we celebrate our musical heritage.

Starting at 6:30 PM, a cash bar will be available. Tickets for the event, priced at $20, may be purchased at the SaddleBrooke Softball Field from 10:00 AM to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays starting January 16, 2012.
